30/10/08 Our expedition to The North Pole

Last week we opened a temporary 400 capacity ‘pop up’ winter bar in the heart of Manchester called The North Pole. For eight weeks a corner of the city will be transformed into an arctic wonderland with seasonal drinks, food and music. The North Pole takes place in a beautiful temporary structure next to Urbis and brings a modern flavour to the party season. It features an uplit winter avenue using 50 giant Christmas trees, a Northern Lights installation and purpose built arctic styled bar complete with hot cocktails and antlers. Ear to the Ground is responsible for developing all aspects of the bar including décor, lighting, sound, staffing, stocking, menu design and marketing. The hearty Christmas menu went on sale at a packed launch party and we have already taken over 500 orders for December. This is Ear to the Ground’s first self initiated public event in almost two years and represents our commitment to developing new ventures and radical ideas using our event skills. The North Pole is run as a joint venture with Manchester City council and will add value to the city’s winter programme of activity. Hopefully we will see you down there before we pack up on New Year’s Day.
