We won a multi-agency pitch with a concept that allows fans to fully immerse themselves in the legendary moments of the competitions history. By getting fans from around the world to empathise with the emotions of the tournament we will further help connect UEFA and their commercial partners with a global fan base.
The win follows on from the development of last year’s hugely successful multi-platform fan-centric campaign; ‘Trophy Cam’. Utilising UEFA’s key asset, the iconic Champions League trophy, we strapped state of the art mini-cams to the trophy for an epic journey to the final. It was a unique piece of content that captured the authentic reactions of fans, appearing in unexpected and unannounced local environments. The style of the edit was fast paced, dynamic and raw to appeal to a younger audience and provide something different to more traditional broadcast content, showcasing the huge impact exceptional branded content can have on sport fans without relying on traditional media spend.
Trophy Cam reached a staggering 82Million fans online via 16 film edits on UEFA.com and Facebook. It achieved an unprecedented 12 million Facebook views and 750,000 likes helping to build huge (f)anticipation around the tournament in the build up to the final in Lisbon.
